In
Sympathy, We Remember
Well, ladies and gents, it’s been a year
since we learned of HBO’s decision not to renew Carnivàle, and
the grief is as fresh now as it was then.
Whether they want to admit it or not, we think the execs at
HBO are suffering, too (Did you SEE The Comeback??).
We think now is the perfect time to let Chris Albrecht and
company know that we feel their pain and that we’re still here for
them. Let’s send them
a sympathy card to comfort them and offer them some redemption.
On May 9 of last year, Variety reported the
news of the cancellation. So,
target your mail to arrive at the HBO offices by the same date this
year. Below, you’ll find some postcards you can download to paste
into an email, or print out to mail.
Remember to sign your name and your location (especially
important for our International Rousties to show that you’re in
mourning, too).
We ask that you refrain from any personal
comments or rants so that our message cannot be misconstrued as
threatening! We’re
offering our support, after all!
Okay, Rousties!
Let’s shake some dust!!

Village and Dark Horizons make Some Waves
Our email box filled to capacity last month as news of a 2-hour
wrap up movie, and the possibility of another season, hit the
newswire. Mediavillage.com
and DarkHorizons.com
both reported that HBO was planning a movie project to tie up the
show's loose ends. As far as we know, the rumor is
baseless. We asked Dan Knauf about it, and he was
unaware of any such plan, nor were any of the original cast
members appearing at CarnyCon. Sometimes a bear is just a
bear, and a rumor is just a rumor. Sorry, folks, if you got
your hopes up.

Carnivàle as a “Talkie”
HBO hasn’t budged on their decision to resurrect Carnivàle, but does that mean we should give up? No way! Knowing the talent and entertaining appeal of Charlie Chaplin, would
D.W. Griffith have given up? Carnivàle takes place in a time when Hollywood was taking its first steps to a Golden Age. What better place to tell the story than the big screen? It’s time to shift our attention to some film companies. Let’s pitch what we know will be a great story. more

Carnivale named one of the top ten supernatural shows by MSN
All atmosphere and sinister suggestion, HBO's original series puts the battle between good and evil, and light and darkness, into the Depression-era dustbowl where a supernatural sideshow rooks small town rubes when it's not battling the devil. read more |

TV Guide Strikes Back!
Mike Ausiello lambasts HBO again
Question: What are the chances HBO's The Comeback will come back? It's so funny! Canceled? "I don't wanna see that!" — Garrett
Ausiello: Sorry, but I think the show is as dead as Valerie's career. It didn't help that the season finale was seen by fewer than a million people. Heck, Carnivàle pulled in more than 2 million and it got put down, but don't get me started on that. |

Chris Albrecht Besieged
Read PoserTheOutcast's hilarious "Chris Albrecht for Dummies"
From the Pittsburgh News Gazette, July 18, 2005:
"Never have we gotten besieged the way we have been besieged by "Carnivale" fans for deciding to not go on with the third season of that show," said HBO chairman and CEO Chris Albrecht. "Literally, 50,000 e-mails over a weekend, and I don't mean the first weekend." read more |

TV Guide Weighs in Again!
Mike Ausiello gives HBO a piece of his mind
HBO's Six Feet Under kicked off its farewell season Monday with 2.6 million viewers, down 30 percent from last year. And Lisa Kudrow's Comeback stalled in its second episode Sunday, falling from 1.5 million to 925,000 viewers. At least HBO still has Carnivàle. Oh, wait — they canceled that. (Still bitter, yes I am.) |

Lulafortune
From the moment I saw the first ‘coming-soon’ ad for Carnivale on HBO, I knew this was going to be a must-see show. Little did I realize that a few months later, I’d be compelled to start googling for websites and forums, longing for more brains to pick about what it all *meant*. more Meet some other rousties
